The creation and development of scenic drives allows the separation of touring
traffic from local traffic. Given that tourism traffic drives more slowly and is seeking
to enjoy the drive, rather than simply to get from A to B as quickly as possible,
it is logical to create special linear attractions for the holidaymaker touring by car.
These are known as scenic drives and are designed primarily to provide a distinctive
driving experience for pleasure travel. They allow the destination manager to
control the numbers of vehicles entering the drive and environmental impact can be
reduced, as visitors tend to stay within their vehicles
