INTRODUCTION
DSRC technology enables the deployment of real time
vehicular communications network, allowing a set of safety
and non-safety applications preventing accidents and
improving mobility.
Fig. 1 shows a typical application with the road side unit
(RSU) and the on board unit (OBU) in the vehicle.

Safety warnings, traffic information, electronic payments
(tolls, gas stations or parking), collision alerts or internet
onboard are some possible applications based on DSRC
systems. In Europe, the DSRC uses two frequency bands of
operation, at 5.8GHz (tolling) and 5.9GHz (ITS). The physical
layers are regulated by two standards, EN12253 [1] and
EN302571 [2].
Next section explains the proposed antenna array and
presents practical results. Section III reports the main
conclusions.
