Histologically, ovary of the 12-h quail showed full breeding condi-
tion as in control but appears to be more developed with an increased
number of developing follicles and their size. Further, the fully devel-
oped ovarian follicles contained a proliferated granulosa layerwithmul-
tilayered thecal cells also containing yolk droplets in the ooplasm. The
theca externa is wider and vascular in 12-h ovary and it has many
more gland cells in large follicles as they approached ovulation. Howev-
er, the transverse section of ovary of 8-h quail exhibited suppressed
condition with large number of small oocytes surrounded by a single
layer of squamous follicular cells without any yolk droplets in the yolk
vesicles of the ooplasm
