The effective heat treatment is often near the level injurious
to the commodity, and both temperature and duration must
be precisely controlled (Barkai-Golan and Phillips, 1991; Arauz,
2000). In practice, stand-alone hot water treatment is applied on
a large scale where facilities are available, but is unsuited for the
small-scale fruit industry. The integrated use of PDIC (salicylic acid
and potassium phosphonate) with inorganic salts (calcium chloride
and sodium bicarbonate) and hot water treatment on mango anthracnose
has not been reported earlier.
