8. Don’t Overlook Ergonomic Issues
Carpal tunnel syndrome, back pain, and eye strain can be a huge productivity drain on you and your employees. That’s why ergonomic design isn’t just a business cost — it’s an investment that can save you a lot of money down the line.
Depending on the size of your office, consider designating an ergonomics coordinator who can research proper placement for keyboards, monitors, and other office equipment. And while it makes sense to cut corners on some office furniture costs, beware of cut-rate office chairs that fail to provide proper support. If necessary, purchase additional ergonomic items (such as keyboard trays or track-ball pointers) for employees who request them. In return, you’ll get happier, healthier employees — and you’ll have a happier, more healthful work environment.
