reactivation of old landslides. After the Taitung earthquake, the
landslide ratio, newly-formed ratio and reactivated ratio all reached
maximum values for the Luye catchment as a whole.
Although smaller but more frequent landslides are usually
considered to control the spacing of channels and alter drainage
density (Oguchi, 1997; Schlunegger et al., 2006), the 9-year observation
periods of landsliding in these two catchments are too short to
show variations of channel morphology and river long profiles with
respect to long timescale averages.
