In Asia currently, there are more than 100 nuclear power plant in many countries and plans to build incessantly in a further. The Gulf of Thailand is bordered by the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean. There is a risk from received radioactivity in normal and emergency conditions as a result of radiation accidents. Data accumulation of radioactive material including DNA damage on Thailand marine organisms in normal environmental conditions condition. It is important to evaluate the effects of radiation on Thailand marine living organisms in the future. This preliminary study of cesium-137 accumulation in the mussel Perna viridis in December 2558 and January 2559 from Chonburi, Surat Thani and Ranong Province, which represents the eastern, southern Gulf of Thailand and Andaman respectively. Coupled with monitoring DNA damage by comet assay in the haemolymph. For 3 areas, dose accumulation of cesium-137 in mussels was low (estimated dose rate ………….µGyh-1), in agreement with results for DNA damage in three areas that are extremely low as showed in percentage of Tail DNA 1.82 ± 0.10%, which is similar bivalves from not contamination source with genotoxicity (Genotoxicant). This preliminary study demonstrated that mussel in Thailand sea found an accumulation of cesium-137 was low and harmless. Additionally, It not cause DNA damage in haemocytes of mussels.
