The findings of this study therefore, suggest that there is a need to improve waste collection, storage, and disposal at
the market place to reduce the potential of spread of infectious diseases and environmental degradation. We
recommend also that researchers should pay more attention to market studies and improved sanitary facilities should
be made available in market places and abattoirs. The local Government should take steps to promote community
participation in sanitation services, particularly at the market places since it is their responsibility constitutionally.
