A clothing trend
Are you or is someone you care about following that latest fad or craze without truly reflecting on why? In reality, fads make money out of our eagerness to allow our egos to be stroked and to be both like others and to not miss out on what others are enjoying. That said, it's very hard to resist a fad when your friends and family are keen about the latest object that seems like a must-have. It can be really hard to say no to what the rest of your tribe is playing with and using. And yet, you don't have to follow whatever your peers are wearing, saying or doing. And in so doing, you are not any lesser a person, nor are you missing out. Quite the opposite, you're showing other people that resistance is intelligent and likely to improve your wealth quotient too.
You may say, "I don't like this rut that fads have me stuck in... I'm getting out of this rat race of keeping up with the trends and fads." There are many instances of participating in the fad but not even using the fad toys, games, tools, software, music, etc. While that lacks sense, it happens because we're trying to keep up even if we don't indulge in actual use. The end result? We're working harder to buy more, to have too much and to be burdened and cluttered by unneeded fads.
In seeking to stop giving into the cravings, you need to be asking yourself "Why?" You may end up with a pile of fads that you don't even want or need. If you want to save money, space and preserve your creativity, then you must look at your needs and not to your wants or desires. When it is not a need, just a desire. And here are some suggestions for how you resist these fleeting wants.
