Cantor et al. (1984) indicated
that the upper limit before feed intake decreases is
4 mg of SS per liter of drinking water, which is equivalent
to 7 ppm of SS in the diet. Our feed intake and percentage
hen-day production results are in agreement with Cantor
and Scott (1974), Cantor et al. (2000), and Patton (2000),
and indicate that 3 ppm of SS or SM is not toxic to laying
hens.
