Limitations and Delimitations
There are benefits and drawbacks to quantitative and qualitative studies.
Quantitative studies, with a large sample size, allow for generalization of the population
but do not provide an in-depth explanation of human behavior. On the other hand,
qualitative studies provide the why and how people make decisions and exemplify their
lived experiences, providing study participants with a voice. However, because of the
small sample size in qualitative research, the findings cannot be generalized to the overall
population with a high degree of confidence. While qualitative research lacks
generalizability, the humanistic nature of the methodology gives mid-level administrators
a voice as they share their leadership experience.
