Monitoring performance
A significant aspect of the leader’s role is not just to maintain the status quo but
to strive for improvement. This involves monitoring performance and identifying
areas for improvement, whether this is in relation to an improvement to a
product, system, service or even a person’s performance. This requires for
decisions to be made and implemented. Those decisions should be based upon
sound data. In the absence of sufficient reliable information, decisions are at
risk of being ill-conceived and based on little more than intuition.
