DISCUSSION
The results in Table 1 suggest that the
buffaloes showed less interest in the cake given
them than the cattle did. This response supports
the prediction from previously study that buffaloes
have the ability to recycle nitrogen to the rumen
(Thanh et al., 2009; Thanh, 2012) making them
more adaptable than cattle to conditions with low
N in feed resources. Therefore they may not need
as much additional non-protein nitrogen in their
feed as cattle, because traditionally the habitats
for buffaloes are swampy and poorer in N, but
are better places to avoid insect attack and reduce
heat to avoid heat stress in the hot season because
the sweat glands of the buffalo are not very well
developed .
