To anticipate the overall RN reaction to the proposed salary program, the task force conducted 6 focus groups with RN managers, supervisors, and staff nurses. During the focus groups, it became clear that, other than being aware of salary inequi ties between clinic and hospital nursing positions, the majority of nurses knew very little about the current salary program. Initially, after seeing the proposed RN salary model, they expressed a mainly defensive reaction.
