Practical implications
Our study also offers practical implications for organisational and business teams. Our
findings show the importance of a shared understanding concerning relevant task and
team aspects from the beginning of the team lifecycle. Our study offers insights into
designing training programs about TMMs through which teams should be instructed
in the importance of shared knowledge and strategies needed to enhance its potential.
And importantly, these training programs should occur previously to task
performance.
Furthermore, our study shows that it is important that teams develop conflict
management competencies and know how to use conflict management strategies to
prevent conflict (Pazos, 2012) in order to achieve high levels of performance, feel
satisfied with team, and be willing to work together in the future. Therefore, training
programs about conflict management are also needed. Ideally, team members should
be instructed about TMMs and conflict management. This way teams are more likely
to develop a shared understanding about how the task should be accomplished and
how to interact with each other at the same time they know how to prevent or deal
