Many of the ideas proposed in the polygon part of the Cities and Towns section just prior to this are also applicable to the political boundary section. Political boundaries such as county, township, or country boundaries are polygons since they all show containment of land for political or administrative purposes. (See Figure 6.27 for color suggestions.) Despite this, sometimes the dataset you have to work with will be a simple or complex line that only delineates the boundaries and not the interiors. Obviously if that is the case, your options for display are narrowed since using fill color will not be an option.
