Categorical variables in the
descriptive statistics are expressed as absolute and relative frequency while
continuous variables are expressed as
means and SD or median and interquartile
range, depending on variable
symmetry. The researchers used chisquare
test to compare categorical
variables (clinical and socioeconomic
data) between the IG and CG at T0
whereas they used the t test for independent
data or the Mann–Whitney
test to compare continuous variables.
Paired t test or Wilcoxon test was
used for intra-group outcome comparisons
(comparison between T0
and T1). Bonferroni multiplicity
adjustment was conducted by ANCOVA
for energy at T1, result at T0,
and endpoint that was different at
baseline period. This test was conducted
because the study has multiple
comparisons of variables from 1
data set.
