When GTA V was first released, cheat codes could only be entered using digital pad and button combinations (like you’ll find on the pages linked here). However when the game was subsequently released for Xbox One and PS4 on November 18 2014, Rockstar included the ability for players to activate cheat codes by entering numbers on the in-game cell phone. The feature comes as a welcome surprise to most fans as previous games in the Grand Theft Auto series had included it by default.
One outstanding issue is the ability to save cheat codes/phone numbers however. In previous games, cheats would be saved in the cell phone, meaning you could activate them very quickly. This is not available in Grand Theft Auto 5 though and players must dial the relevant number each time they want to use a cheat.
To dial a number in GTA V you need to bring out your cell phone (press up on the directional pad), go to your contacts list and then press X on the Xbox or Square on the Playstation. A shortcut is also available when you press the * button on your phone’s keypad – this will automatically dial the last number you used (i.e. it will re-activate the last cheat you entered). Enjoy!
