Another goal was to identify factors that facilitated or hindered the work of four
school library media specialists at three sites. Thus, the study utilized a research design
that permitted the exploration of individual human factors as well as contextual factors
related to school culture. Qualitative data collection provided me the opportunity to
understand behavior in the context of the participant's own special environments (Bogdan
& Biklen, 1998). The strength of the qualitative narrative is the rich description that
results from field work
