Experimental and simulated studies were conducted on
the particle classification performance of four types of
cyclone separators and the conclusions below were obtained:
1. Separation efficiency of types A and B ŽIinoya’s
type. cyclones, shown in Fig. 2, are nearly equal;
however, pressure drop of the Iinoya’s type cyclone
is about 10% smaller than that of the type A cyclone.
2. From the numerical simulation, particles are deposited
mainly on the lower the conical wall of the
type A and Iinoya’s type cyclones and experimental
results qualitatively agree with the calculated results.
3. The experimental results of the partial separation
efficiency for the type A and Iinoya’s type cyclones
agree with the calculated results.
4. In order to realize ideal particle classification, the
type C cyclone, indicated in Fig. 3, shows better
performance compared to the type D cyclone.
