It has been a long time we did not have the opportunity to speak, I hope you are doing well.
Kindly let me come back to you regarding the issue of this morning between clients SAVIOZ and Guide K. ORN-ANONG.
Below, a summary of the situation according to clients
As soon as family SAVIOZ arrived at CNX airport guide didn’t operate the transfer to Banthai hotel as per written in itinerary. Instead she said directly with pressure that it is useless for clients to go to hotel in the morning because they can use their room only form 2pm. She added and stressed that it is not a problem for her to make them visit the areas for “only” THB 2,500. Clients insist she was putting pressure and was “selling” the tour in a tricky way. Apparently, she was transmitting a feeling that they had no other choice than agreeing with her.
Finally clients accepted to pay and asked for a proof of payment. Guide told she cannot provide one until tomorrow. Moreover, clients insisted they don’t want to visit touristic areas. Guide apparently confirmed it is not too touristy and that explanations will be provided during the visit (monkey temple & Umbrella shop). Unfortunately, nothing was explained, the umbrella shop was not matching with clients tastes (not surprisingly). Also, the monkeys were chained and in small cages.. By pity for these animals, clients’ daughter started crying, so that clients told the guide to end the tour prematurely and to drive them to their hotel (around 12pm).
For our part, we are very sensitive to the clients need and comfort. One rule of Asian Trails is not to visit park or other areas in which animal receive bad treatment. Moreover, we would like to precise one more time that we expect from the guides to call us before if they change the itinerary, particularly if clients must afford extra money.
• For all the reasons above, could we ask for a refund of 50% of the total cost: 2500/2 = THB 1,250? This compensation would help to content our clients and overseas agent who have already called us on this matter.
• Moreover, clients unfortunately do not trust K. Orn Anong anymore and would like to have another guide from tomorrow on. They would rather have a French speaking guide but also accept an English speaking one if there isn’t any other availability.
• Finally, clients would like to be reassured that Elephant camp they will visit tomorrow (19 AUG) instead of Mae Ping will provide a good treatment to the pachyderms..
I thank you very much by advance for your understanding and precious help in order to solve this case. I am sure this issue is exceptional and maybe due to a lack of understanding between clients and guide. I remain fully available should you have further questions on this matter.
