As we said in Chapter I , this at least means the imaginative process of seeing the new material through the eyes of someone who has never seen it, doesn’t immediately understand it and isn’t disposed to find it interesting. This isn’t a portrait of every child, or even of a typical one, but planning that doesn’t take account of it is, at best, only partially achieved and the resulting lesson will only partly succeed. One way of doing this is to remember what you were bad at when you were learning and consider how it felt and were bad at when you were learning and consider how it felt and what might have helped. Another is to try out key lesson moments from your plan- key task setting, or explanations-on a friend who doesn’t share your passion for your subject. Does she understand? Is she interested?
