Nutrition in Clinical Practice
Diseases of the heart accounted for 24.4% of all American deaths in 2010-more than any other single cause or group of cause of death in the United States (National Center for Health Statistics, Center for Diseases Control and Prevention, 2010). Approximately every 25 seconds, an American will have a coronary event, and approximately every minute, someone will die of one. Suboptimal lifestyle is implicated in many instances of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and its risks. This addresses nutrition for preventing and treating CVD.
