Development mining patterns with continuous haulage have
been used to open up main conveyorways and roadways. Development is typically within the ore body using an advance only sequence. Development extraction is lower than in the production sequence because these rooms must remain accessible for long periods of time (Figure 12.4). two separate development panels are driven parallel to each other, with rooms driven at right angles to the belt line designed to line up with each other. This overcomes an inherent problem with continuous haulage systems-the distance mined to the sides of the panel belt is not enough to set up the haulage system and belt structure to turn off a panel. The panel belt of the first development pass becomes a main belt, while the second pass opens up ground to give sufficient distance between the main belt and the faces
