Studies that determine the appropriate destination of agricultural waste are extremely important, since, according to Prates (2010), the release of wastes without proper care causes environmental pollution by degrading water resources and adjacent
land, besides causing diseases for people dependent on them. The environmental damage caused by the inadequate destination of untreated organic wastes in soil without due care includes soil contamination by nutrients accumulation, eutrophication by the leaching of nutrients to water bodies, and emission of greenhouse gases produced during the decomposition of biomass.
