To our knowledge, this is the first study that evaluates perceptions of FCC for persons with ASD across sectors, including perspectives of both parents and professionals. The literature suggests that, once considered revolutionary (Beatson, 2008), the term FCC has become commonplace related to child health services. This appears true for persons with ASD across service sectors in Alberta: all families and professionals who participated in this study had heard of FCC, and reported some understanding of what it entails. However, many gaps in FCC practices and policies at the level of the care system made navigating services difficult for families.
