ANNs, which are known to find trends between complexinput variables, have successfully been utilized in designing an ALIF cage for subsidence resistance, whilemaintaining rigidity. The geometric design of a spinalfusion cage is related to the clinical implications. The ANNrevealed that the optimum parameters given this designspace should reach the ends of these bounds, where CM,RW, and GA should be minimized, and RH, RO, and RRshould be maximized. This design corresponded to O3,which yielded the least bone body surface stress. The FEAmodels correlated strongly with the ANN and could beused to predict the resistance to subsidence.
