1. Introduction
The Dutch population older than 65 years will increase
from 16% in 2011 to 23.7% in 2030. This high
number of elderly people will result in an increased demand
for care [1]. Health care organizations will also
have to cope with a relative decrease in the number of
employees available to work in the healthcare sector.
Besides, the number of informal caregivers per elderly
is expected to decrease from three per elderly person
to the clients’ needs. In this study, only a limited
number of clients were supported by the Quiet
Care system. It is expected that the effects and surplus
value of the system may increase once a more
widespread use has been established. Activity monitoring
is a promising technology for frail elderly people
to live longer independently
