4. Conclusions
In this contribution tungsten electrode was recommended as a
suitable unique electrode for the determination of pH or H+/OH
concentration in the entire pH range from strong acids to strong
alkalis. This was found to be possible by switching methodologies
from RDE voltammetry of H2 evolution in the concentration range
0.1–1 102 mol dm3, to potentiometric detection in the pH
range between 3 and 11, and again to hydrodynamic amperometry
in the concentration range between 1 and 100 103 mol dm3. It
was also proposed that concentrated acidic and alkaline solutions
can be analyzed using amperometric approach in combination
with standard addition method.
