The purposes of research at to study consumption behavior and nutritional status and Find personal factors that was correlated to consumption behavior and nutritional status of students in Huay San Yao Wittaya School grade 1-6 Dong Mada sub district, Mae Lao District, Chiang Rai Province. Population was 99 primary school students grade 1-6 in Dong Mada sub district. The instrument in this study consists of 3 parts: the questionnaire, the nutritional assessment tool. The data was analyzed by frequency, percentage, average and standard deviation and correlating by Chi-Square, Fisher’s Exact Test.
The findings indicated consumption behavior was at moderate level (69.7%) good level (30.3%). When considering a text list, found that student behavior should improve in eating sweets every day (μ = 1.06, σ = 0.73). The behavior is moderate drink sweetened beverages every day (μ = 1.60, σ = 0.73), eat grilled and fried every day (μ = 2.22, σ = 0.74) and eat high fat every day (such fried chicken, fried pork green curry etc.) (μ = 2.33, σ = 0.67). The findings indicated nutritional status based on weight for height in that 71.72% was normal, 22.22% was relatively obesity. The findings indicated correlated to consumption behavior and nutritional status found that personal factors (gender, age and ethnic group) the correlated with consumption behavior and nutritional status without the statistical significance at the 0.05 level.
The students in Huay San Yao Wittaya School have overnutrition 22.22% and consumption behavior eating sweets, high fat, grilled and fried that may be the cause students in Huay San Yao Wittaya School have overnutrition. Therefore, the parents should encourage children to eat foods that are tasteless and And avoid that children are eating or drinking sweet taste. The teacher or the school should arrange activities that encourage students to exercise every day for the good nutrition and good health following.
