The Peruvian economy expanded by 3.87% last June, driven by the dynamism of mining and agriculture sectors, marking 71 months of continuous growth, the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) announced.
So far this year cumulative GDP growth has been 2.42% and a 1.92% growth was registered in the last 12-month period.
It must be noted Peruvian economy expanded by 1.22% last May.
Due to the result, GDP growth rate climbed from 1.1% (last year’s fourth quarter) to 3.0% in the second quarter of 2015.
The rate registered in June exceeded analysts’ expectations. It was driven by the primary sectors, which increased by 5.4% due to the farming (8.13%) and metal mining (14.15%).
On the other hand, sectors linked to private consumption remained on the upward trend, such as: Trade (4.08%) and services (5.3%). Likewise, sales tax revenue expanded by 7.5% in the said month; the strongest growth registered in the last 18 months.
