ฃStudent Weekly: What was it like working with a big star like Min Pechaya?
Alek: I was a bit tense at first because I think of her as a superstar. But I’d already experienced working with other big stars like Chompoo Araya and Ploy Chermarn. Those experiences were more intimidating because they’re showbiz veterans and older than me. Min and I are the same age. She was friendly and playful, so we got on well.
Student Weekly: What was the atmosphere like during filming?
Alek: It was fun. Min and I always discussed our acting with each other. We both really wanted to do our best for the film.
Student Weekly: Do you prefer acting for films or television?
Alek: I love them all, from TV series’ to movies and music videos. Before I worked in show business, I thought it was crazy to perform in front of a camera. I got more into acting when I was filming Switch, because the acclaimed director Chana Kraprayoon was very serious about acting. If I had trouble with the character I was playing, he wouldn’t let it go. I had to become more determined. That was the turning point that made me love acting.
Student Weekly: Can you tell us about your upcoming TV drama, Sai See Ploeng [Burning Fury]?
Alek: It’s my first time playing a bad guy in a dramatic series. I feel pressure because the other male leading actors, Chakrit Yamnam and Poh Nattawut, are very talented and professional. I’m trying to do best, because if I don’t they’ll overshadow me.
My character, Patchara, is always serious. He never smiles, but his eyes have to express passion toward Sai, played by Chompoo Araya.
Student Weekly: Do you enjoy working with another household name, Sririta Jensen [Rita], in Tang Doen Hang Rak [The Way to Love]?
Alek: It’s a light-hearted series, but I was a bit tense because Rita is an actress that I’ve liked since I was very young. She’s so beautiful. But Rita is easy to work with and I’m happy to work with her.
Student Weekly: How did you feel about receiving the Favorite MV Star award at the recent Bang Music Awards?
Alek: I was so pleased. I got the award for Lipta’s music video, “Yang [Not Yet].” In other music videos, the crew always told me what emotions they wanted me to express, but for “Not Yet” the director and crew trusted me and let mecollaborate. It’s a dramatic video that required me to act alone. It was tiring, but fun.
Student Weekly: We heard that you spend your free time playing guitar and singing. Do you plan to release your own single?
Alek: No. I enjoy playing and listening to music, but it’s just a hobby for me. I played drums in a band with my friends in high school. I’ve been learning to play guitar for few months, because if I have to sing at any events, it’ll be more fun to sing while playing guitar.
Student Weekly: Why shouldn’t people miss The Secret of Sassy Women?
Alek: It’s a cute movie about romance between men and women. It also explores family issues and friendships. Men should see this movie because you will learn about tricks that women use. But it might be better if you see it with your friends rather than with your girlfriends!
