When you look at holidays such as Christmas, New Years or even Thanksgiving, you are commemorating a special event that shapes our lives. The birth of Christ, the new year, coming to the new world. Occurrences like Halloween and Valentines though are recognised, they however don't shape our lives. For Halloween to be a national holiday, you need a lot more than to walk around in a costume and say "Trick or treat," especially with the big event taking place at night. Though important, it's more casual that can be shared with coworkers and strangers. It's the same with Valentines. It's not just loving your family or your spouse/significant other, but even friends or strangers.
