commercially-available inositol 2-monophosphate (IP1) and
inositol 1,4,5-triphosphate (IP3) were digested for 4 h and the
release of inositol measured by GC. Recoveries of free inositol were
97% and 93%, respectively, confirming that lower inositol phosphates
will be included in the analysis for total inositol. Similarly,
phosphatidylinositol-3,4-bisphosphate (gifted from Echelon Biosciences
Incorporated), also converted to free inositol, although the
presence of fatty acid residues in the phospholipid moiety prevented
a quantitative recovery to be calculated
