The chosen method for data collection was the use of a
questionnaire, which is ideal to obtain a large amount of
information in a descriptive study in a short period of time
(Burns and Grove, 2007). The questionnaire predominately
featured Likert-type questions but where it was believed
that additional responses may add a qualitative element
(Green and Thorogood, 2009) and richness to the data,
a space was included for patients’ personal comments.
The questionnaire consisted of 17 items and participants
were encouraged to make comments via written prompts
throughout the questionnaire.
