Kirsten Beier-Marchesi from Italy presented on her doctoral dissertation. Her research project explores how movement-based language learning affects the learning process of primary school students, compared to students who have been Mone Welsche from Germany conducted a survey in 2003/04 to investigate which approaches of movement therapy and diagnostics are utilized in child and adolescent psychiatry in Germany and which professions are responsible for this work (Welsche, 2006). A half-structured questionnaire was sent to 143 psychiatry departments, 81 answered. Results show that dance therapy and dance pedagogic are part of a very broad spectrum of different therapeutical and pedagogical approaches and professions working in the field of movement therapy. Regarding movement diagnostics there was a dominance of methods, mainly used in childhood, which measure the state of motorical development and perceptual skills. Deficits in methods of qualitative movement analysis existed particularly for adolescents. The presentation highlighted the role of dance therapy and Laban Movement Analysis.
