In 2013, Taryn Brumfitt, an Aussie photographer and mom of three, hated her body. She was considering liposuction and breast implants when she suddenly realized that she could pass on her negative self-image to her daughters. "How am I ever going to teach Mikaela to love her body as it is if her Mummy can’t do the same?" she writes on her site Body Image Movement
(via The Huffington Post
).
With her girls in mind, Brumfitt set out to change the self-hating dialogue that surrounds women's bodies, beginning in May 2013, with the idea of "before" and "after" weight loss shots. Rather than showcase a journey from plus-size to slimmer, Brumfitt chose a photo of herself in a bodybuilding competition as the "before" and a photo of herself after having given birth as the "after."
