Cytogenetic parameters such as chromosome number and morphology have long been used to characterize species and can
give valuable clues to phylogeny evolution and taxonomic relationships. The present investigation is concerned with the
karyological and meiotic studies of pouch pulmonate snail Physa acuta which belong to the subclass Pulmonata and to family,
Physidae in order to confirm its diploid chromosome number.
