In this regard, the World Health Organisation
(WHO) forecasts that scientific research about food
intake, taken together, may be more relevant than
nutrients analysed on an individual basis. The WHO
also suggests that the food intake recommendations for
people should be based on foods rather than nutrients.
The associations found must be simple, easy to interpret
and able to be converted into knowledge that may, in
turn, be transferred to acceptable standards of conduct
at the level of public health(4).
