this paper investigates whether sugar, especially refined sugar so prevalent in food nowadays, is more of a health benefit. Sugar can be found, both naturally and artificially, in almost all aspects of the modern diet, and the over-consumption of sugar is a cause for concern in the modern world. The paper examines the origins of sugar in the human diet and then considers some of the nutritional properties of sugar. Based on the conclusion of various scientific research papers, it is argued that sugar, especially in its refined state, is responsible for creating a vicious cycle of consumption and a range of disturbing condition and illnesses. The paper concludes by strongly suggesting that everybody should reflect on their diet and, if need be, reduce their sugar intake in order to maintain a healthy life
