Nonlinear Optics
Nonlinear optics (NLO) describes the behavior of light in nonlinear media, in
which the dielectric polarization (the dipole moment per unit volume) P(t)
at time t
responds nonlinearly to the electric field E
of the light. NLO is a very useful
technology in the area of laser technology, optical communication and data storage
technology. NLO is a completely new effect in which light of one wavelength is
transformed to light of another wavelength.
In order to describe nonlinear effects by considering the relationship between
polarization P(t)
with electric field E
, in the case of conventional linear optics
