In freshwater fish culture, the most common disease is caused by bacteria, namely Aeromonas hydrophila.
Clinical symptoms of this disease are lesions or wounds on the body and/or an extended abdomen.
It can be controlled by the application of chemical in the water along with medicated feed mixed with and antibiotic.
The commonly used chemicals are formalin, benzalkonium chloride, and providone iodine, while the antibiotics are oxytetracycline and sulfa group antibiotic.
