Partially purified ink of Loligo duvauceli The antimicrobial activity of partially purified ink of L.duvauceli is presented in Fig.1. Of the six fractions, only two fractions of partially purified squid ink (30% and 40%) exhibited antimicrobial activity. Among the two, 30% fraction exhibited significant activity against K.pneumoniae (15mm) and it also showed inhibitory activity against A.hydrophila (14mm), E.coli (10mm).
Partially purified ink of Sepia pharaonis Antimicrobial activity of partially purified ink of cuttlefish was given in Fig.1. Among the eight fractions 70% and 80% of cuttlefish ink exhibited antimicrobial activity. Fraction 80% showed maximum activity against Vibrio fischeri and Aeromonoas hydrophila (15mm) and lowest activity against Streptococcus pyogenes, Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae(14mm). Inhibition zone of 18mm was observed against the fungal strain Candida albicans.
