In this study actual operating data of an active combined cycle power plant named ATAER Energy Power Plant, located in İzmir Atatürk Industrial Zone-Turkey, is used. ATAER Energy Corp. is founded in July 1996 and ATAER Energy Power Plant began to produce electricity in October 1998. The main foundation purpose of the company is to meet the electricity demand of the shareholders of the İzmir Atatürk Industrial Zone. In addition to this purpose certain amount of electricity is sold to national electricity network. The power plant was put into service on October 1998 with only one single gas turbine unit to produce electricity and during those days petroleum naphtha was used in the plant as a fuel. In 2001 with the steam turbine addition to the plant, power plant started to work according to the combined cycle principle. Then in 2003 fuel type was changed from naphtha to natural gas. 2009 was the year of second investment, and another gas turbine unit and heat recovery steam generator unit were installed to the plant so that utilized power of the plant increased. Today, the power plant has two General Electric LM6000 gas turbine units, two heat recovery steam generators and one Siemens steam turbine. According to TEIAS, the utilized power of plant is 119.2 MWand plant has one billion sixty million kWh/year electricity production capacity.
ATAER Energy Power Plant consists of these major equipments. Schematic representation of the plant is shown in Fig. 1. Gas turbine unit. Heat recovery steam generator and once through steam generator. Steam turbine. Condenser.
