the radish sprouts were brought in to dehydrate after measuring the length of radish sprout.the radish sprouts were dehydrated at 105 degree celsius for 3 hours by a MEMMERT UM 500 universal oven and weighed by a mettler toledo PL303 analytical balance.the comparative results of the total mass of dehydrated radish sprout from various experimental conditiions are illustrated in Fig.2(b).the total mass was calculated in percentages from the ratio of the weight of sprout between pre and post dehydration process.from the results,if could be observed that 4 csses out of 6 had a greater total mass compared to the controlled case.for the other 2 cases,ther had a slightly lower total mass compared to the controlled case.this could be implied that plasma treatment has a positive effect on germination enhancement. The 140 watts plasma generation power case had slightly higher total mass compared to the 90 watts case.it could be clearly noticed that the total mass of 140 watts plasma treatments for every treatment time had a higher total mass compared to the controlled case of 9-12 percent,approximately.it seems that increasing the discharge time could enhance the germination rate as noticed in the 90 watts of plaama generation;however,increasing of discharge time for the higher generation of power could lessen the germination rate. This problem is possibly caused by the fact that an excessively high plasma power could heat and damage some parts of the seeds. For the detailed explanation of this reason,it will be discussed in the further study of this research topic.which this plasma jet model will be applied to. Even though the mechanism on how the plasma affected seed germination enhancement is still unclear at this moment,one possible reason that plasma can enhance the growth rate is that the skin of the seed irradiated by plasma will be sputtered by plasma. The thin and soft skin allows the seed to absorb water and nutrition efficiently. Moreover,the radical species from plasma would cause a chemical reaction on the skin of seed.
