Child-to-parent violence (CPV) represents a relatively new type of family violence that has garnered increasing attention.
CPV has been defined as any intentional aggressive act perpetrated by a child against his/her parent or guardian (Cottrell,
2001), and it includes both physical and psychological aggression. Recent epidemiological studies indicate that rates of
CPV are dramatically increasing in countries such as Spain . CPV often arises in the context
of arguments between children and their parents when children try to obtain privileges, such as money, internet access,
permission to come home late, etc.
