In a discrete event simulation model, we simulate
patients flowing through a series of individual
processes, each of which takes a certain amount
of time, and may require a number of resources.
If a process is full to capacity, a queue for the
process may form. In the context of our model,
our processes represent stays in beds in the ward
and community hospitals. Patients are either
#NOF or non-#NOF patients. Figure 3 shows an
overview of the structure of the model.
