Meeting so many people, I was often asked about my religion. I prefer not to stick a label to myself but I always say Buddhist. I was supposed to be a Buddhist but as a kid, I always questioned the practices. Why were we burning joss paper to appease a deity? If he or she is as merciful, why would he or she want us to pollute the air. I was never explained about Buddhism teachings. I dismissed the concept of God. One day, I brought some kids from Vietnam to visit the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, picked up a free booklet on Buddha teaching. I found myself resonating with most of the teachings. (Most, because I still question the concept of reincarnation. Buddhism ask you not to blindly accept everything.) It is so fluid and relatable. I have learnt to be less judgemental and open my mind to possibility. And then philosophy classes during Yoga Teacher Training in India gave me another perspective of God.
