to primary school education, and 8.3% admitted alcohol
consumption more than 50 g/d. As case-patients and controls
were properly matched, there were no differences in
these sociodemographic parameters across both groups.
As a whole, 99 (82.5%) of the 120 persons had a poor
CVH status, and mean values of CVH metrics in the
poor range was 1.4 6 .9 per person. Blood pressure of
140/90 mm Hg or more (58.3%) and fasting glucose of
126 mg/dL or more (43.3%) were the more common
CVH metrics in the poor range. There were no significant
differences between case-patients and controls with
a poor CVH status (87.5% versus 81.3%, P 5.464) nor in
the mean of CVH metrics in the poor range per person
