The Prime Minister, however, did not specify the amount of money to be invested in the company.
“If 1MDB is an insolvent entity, I do not think that the Emir would invest in it.
“I have given an assurance to solve the problems in 1MDB within six months and after only a month, it has attracted the attention of a leader of an oil-rich country.
“1MDB has the potential to be rescued based on its assets. It can be turned around to be a profit-making entity,” Najib said when opening the Rantau Panjang Umno division meeting yesterday.
Najib, who is also Umno president, reiterated that he had not touched any of the money, as alleged by his detractors.
“The truth will prevail and I will be cleared of the allegations made against me.
“I made a promise to solve this problem but before anything can happen, my detractors are all out to tarnish my image.
“I wonder if they will apologise if I am cleared of all the allegations,” Najib said.
Earlier, he said Umno members must stand their ground in the wake of attacks on the party from all quarters, adding that the party did not need those who betrayed it.
“When Umno faced a crisis when the party was deregistered in 1987, it survived because then president Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had full support from all the leaders,” Najib said.
